11. Why is there separation in the juices?
Separation in our juices is completely natural and actually a sign of a minimally processed, high-quality product. We use high-pressure processing (HPP), exposing the collected juices to greater than 80,000 psi, instead of heat pasteurization, to preserve nutrients and flavor. Because the juices are extracted from fresh fruits and contain no artificial stabilizers, emulsifiers, or preservatives, the heavier pulp and natural fruit solids may settle at the bottom over time. This gentle method retains the juice’s natural integrity, which can lead to visible separation. Just give the bottle a good shake before drinking—that will blend everything back together.
12. Why choose Silk Grass Farms’ juices instead of others on the market?
Our juices are made with fresh, locally grown fruits — no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. Each bottle is pure juice, and some of our blends are naturally sweetened with sugarcane juice. (Sugarcane juice is a natural ingredient we use instead of refined sweeteners.)
We cold-press our juices and use high-pressure processing (HPP) instead of heat pasteurization to preserve their natural flavor, color, and nutrients. Sourced near the Silk Grass Wildlife Preserve in Belize, our juices are crafted through regenerative farming practices that protect soil health, biodiversity, and rainforest ecosystems.
13. Why is the coconut water pink?
The pink color in our coconut water is completely natural and actually a sign of its freshness and purity.
Coconut water contains polyphenols, which are natural antioxidants. When the water is exposed to light or oxygen, these polyphenols can react and cause the water to turn pink over time. This happens more often in pure, cold-pressed coconut water—especially when it hasn’t been heat-pasteurized or treated with additives to prevent color changes.
In short:
✅ It’s safe to drink
💖 Pink = natural oxidation, not spoilage
🚫 No chemicals are added to “fix” the color—Silk Grass Farms keeps it real and unprocessed
So, if your coconut water turns pink, consider it a sign you’re drinking the good stuff.
14. Do your products need to be refrigerated?
Yes. Our perishable products, like coconut water and juices, must be kept refrigerated, even before opening. This is because they’re minimally processed and contain no preservatives.
Honey does not require refrigeration.
15. Why does the color of the juice sometimes vary?
Natural color variation is completely normal and happens for several reasons. Since we don’t use any artificial colorants, each batch reflects the true character of the fruits we use. Factors like fruit variety, soil composition, growing conditions, and ripeness at harvest can all affect color.
Color changes can also occur due to natural processes such as exposure to light, oxidation, or shifts in pH. Additionally, a natural reaction called enzymatic browning can occur when certain enzymes in the fruit are exposed to oxygen—this produces melanin, which can slightly darken the juice over time.
These variations are a sign of authenticity and the small-batch nature of Silk Grass Farms' juices.
